How the anagram solver works
An anagram uses every letter you give exactly once, in a new order, so listen becomes silent or enlist. This tool checks each word in a list of about 173,000 English words and keeps the ones that match your letters. The Anagrams tab keeps only words that use all of your letters. The Words from letters tab keeps every word that can be built from some or all of them, grouped from longest to shortest, which is what you need in Scrabble, Words With Friends and similar games. A ? is a blank tile that can stand for any letter, so c?t finds cat, cot, cut and act. Each letter can be used only as many times as you typed it. The search runs on your device, so it is fast and your letters stay private.
Word counter →Common questions
What is an anagram?
A word or phrase made by rearranging all the letters of another one. For example, silent is an anagram of listen.
How do I use a blank tile?
Type ? where the blank goes. It can stand for any single letter, so ?at finds bat, cat, hat and many more. You can use several blanks.
Can I use it for Scrabble or Wordle?
Yes. Use Words from letters with your rack to see every word you can play. For Wordle, type the letters you know and use ? for the rest to narrow down candidates.
Why is a word I know missing?
The list is ENABLE, a public domain word list. It leaves out most proper nouns and some newer or regional words, and different games use different dictionaries. Check your game's own word list before you play a word.
Does it find phrases with spaces?
It ignores spaces and punctuation and looks for single words that use your letters. It does not build multi-word phrases.
Is anything sent anywhere?
No. The word list is downloaded once to your browser and the search runs on your device. Your letters are never uploaded.
