Text Sorter●
Every line. In the right order.
Language-aware alphabetical order. Numbers within labels sort naturally: Item 2 comes before Item 10. Blank lines go last.
Your browser is using fallback language or character-counting rules.
Your text stays in this tab. It is not uploaded or saved. My workspace saves a link to the tool, not your writing.
Change the order. Keep the words.
Each line stays intact, including spaces and duplicate entries. Sorting never edits your input until you choose Apply to input. Clear text and Apply to input offer one-step Undo. Line endings are normalised to LF; a final line break is retained.
Text Cleaner →Common questions
Does it change or remove my text?
Line contents and duplicates are preserved. Only their order changes. Windows and old Mac line endings become LF. A final line break is retained.
How does numerical sorting work?
Each trimmed line must be one number: for example -2, 2.5 or 1e3. Commas and units are not supported. Decimal values are compared exactly without rounding, even beyond JavaScript’s safe integer range. Other text follows numeric lines; blank lines go last.
What happens to blank lines and ties?
Alphabetical, numeric and length sorting put whitespace-only lines last, preserving their order. Reverse and Shuffle include blank lines. Tied entries keep their original order.
Can I choose the sorting language?
Yes. Alphabetical sorting uses the selected language’s collation rules and natural ordering of digits within labels. The available locale support can vary by browser; the page reports a fallback if your selection is unavailable.
Can I undo a change?
Previewing does not change the input. Apply to input and Clear text offer one-step Undo. Typing a new input clears that undo snapshot.
How large a list can I sort?
Up to 200,000 UTF-16 text units and 20,000 lines. Larger inputs stay intact and show a limit message. Text is processed in this tab, never uploaded or saved.
