Word Counter●
A clearer view of your text. Count words, characters and more as you type.
Your text stays in this tab. It is not uploaded or saved by Dotool.
Count the text, keep the context.
Word and sentence boundaries depend on the language. Choose a text language for more relevant rules. Emoji and combined letters are counted as single characters where supported.
Common questions
What counts as a word?
Modern browsers use language-aware word boundaries and count word-like segments, including numbers. Punctuation and standalone emoji do not count as words. Hyphenated terms and abbreviations may differ from other counters.
What does “without spaces” exclude?
Spaces, tabs and line breaks are excluded. The main character count includes them. Combined letters and emoji are counted as single characters where the browser supports this.
How are sentences and paragraphs counted?
Sentences follow the selected language’s boundaries; a final phrase without punctuation can count as a sentence. Paragraphs count non-empty lines separated by line breaks. Automatic visual wrapping does not add a paragraph.
How is reading time estimated?
The estimate assumes 200 counted words per minute. It is a guide, not a prediction: language, text difficulty and individual reading speed can change the actual time.
Is my text saved or uploaded?
Dotool counts text inside this browser tab. It does not upload or save the text. My workspace only saves a link to this tool, not what you type. Copy text writes to your clipboard only when you choose it.
Can I undo Clear text, and how large can the text be?
Clear text keeps the previous input for one-step Undo. Typing a new edit or loading an example discards that Undo. Up to 200,000 UTF-16 text units can be counted; longer input stays intact and can still be copied or cleared.
