What a website needs

Browsers ask for favicon.ico, modern ones also read PNG and SVG icons, iPhones use an Apple touch icon, and Android uses the sizes in the web manifest. This tool builds all of them from one image, and the HTML tags to link them. It also works as a PNG to ICO converter: choose your PNG and download favicon.ico.

Common questions

How do I convert a PNG to ICO?

Choose An image, pick your PNG, and download favicon.ico. It contains the sizes you tick under Sizes inside favicon.ico. Use a square image of at least 256 pixels for the best result.

Which files do I need for my website?

Put favicon.ico in your site's root folder and add the HTML tags to the head of every page. The PNG files, the Apple touch icon and the manifest cover phones and home screen shortcuts. Download all of them as a ZIP.

Can I use an SVG favicon?

Yes. Choose an SVG and the ZIP includes your original as favicon.svg, together with PNG and ICO versions for browsers that do not read SVG icons.

Is my image uploaded anywhere?

No. The icons are drawn on a canvas in this tab and packed into files in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server.

Why does my icon look blurry at 16 pixels?

A 16 pixel square holds very little detail. Use a simple, bold shape, add less padding, and avoid thin lines or small text. Checking the preview on light and dark tabs helps.

Why is the Apple touch icon different?

iOS rounds the corners itself and fills transparent areas with black, so this icon is a full square with a solid background.
