Saving re-encodes the image, so camera data such as location is not kept in the new file.

Your image is edited in this browser tab. It is not uploaded, saved or tracked.

How to crop, rotate and flip an image

Choose a photo, then drag the corners or edges of the box to select the part you want to keep. Drag inside the box to move it. Pick a ratio such as 1:1 for profile pictures, 16:9 for video thumbnails, 4:5 for social posts or 3:2 for prints, and the box keeps that shape while you resize it. For exact work, type the left, top, width and height in pixels. Rotate left and right turn the picture by 90 degrees and Flip mirrors it, and the crop box follows along. When you save, the image is cut to the box and encoded as a new file. JPG and WebP are lossy, so very high quality settings keep the most detail, while PNG keeps every pixel and transparency. Because the new file is drawn from scratch, camera metadata such as location is not copied into it.

Common questions

How do I crop an image to a square?

Choose Square 1:1 in Crop ratio. A square box appears on the picture. Drag it to the part you want and download the result.

Can I crop to exact pixel sizes?

Yes. Type the left, top, width and height in pixels, or pick a ratio and set the width. To change the size of the whole picture afterwards, use the image resizer.

Does rotating or cropping reduce quality?

PNG keeps every pixel. JPG and WebP are saved again, so there is a small loss at lower quality settings. Choose Best (100) or PNG to keep the most detail.

Will photos from my phone come out the right way up?

Yes. The tool reads the orientation your camera saved and shows the picture the right way up before you crop.

Is the location removed from my photo?

Yes, the saved file does not contain camera metadata such as GPS location. If you only want to remove metadata without changing the picture, use the EXIF viewer and remover.

Is my image uploaded?

No. The image is opened and saved in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server.
