Notes are stored in this browser only. They are never uploaded or shared.
A notepad that stays on your device
This notepad saves every change as you type, keeps as many notes as you need and lets you search them by any word. Nothing is uploaded: notes are stored in your browser's local storage, so they are private and work without an account. The trade-off is that they live in one browser on one device. Download a backup file to keep a copy or to move your notes to another computer.
Word counter →Common questions
Where are my notes saved?
In your browser's local storage on this device. They are not sent to any server, so nobody else can read them and they are not available on other devices.
Will I lose my notes?
They stay until you delete them or clear the site data for dotool.app. Private or incognito windows forget them when closed. Download a backup to be safe.
Can I use it on my phone and my computer?
Yes, but each browser keeps its own notes. To move notes, download a backup on one device and restore it on the other.
Is there a size limit?
Each note can hold 200,000 characters, and your browser limits the total storage for the site, usually a few megabytes. If it ever runs out you will see a message and can still copy or download the note.
Can I download a single note?
Yes. Download .txt saves the open note as a plain text file named after its first line.
Is this the same as the word counter?
No. The word counter analyses a piece of text in detail and keeps nothing. The notepad keeps your notes and shows only a quick word and character count.
