EXIF viewer and remover●
See what a photo reveals about where, when and how it was taken, then remove it before you share.
Choose photos to see their metadata. Your files never leave this browser.
Orientation keeps the photo the right way up. The colour profile keeps colours accurate. Neither shows where the photo was taken or who took it.

What EXIF data is and why to remove it
EXIF is data that cameras and phones store inside a photo file. It can include the camera model, lens, exposure settings and the time the picture was taken. Phones also add GPS coordinates, which show where you were standing. That is handy in a photo library and risky when you share a picture in a listing, on a forum or by email, because the data travels with the file. This tool reads the metadata in your browser and lists it, with the most revealing rows in red. Removing it works on the file itself: the picture data is copied untouched, so quality does not change and the file only gets a little smaller. It also drops XMP edit history, IPTC captions, text comments and any extra data hidden after the image. Orientation and the colour profile are kept by default so the photo still looks right. Many large platforms hide location when you post, but not all of them do, and an emailed or messaged original keeps everything.
HEIC to JPG →Common questions
What is EXIF data?
EXIF is information a camera or phone writes into a photo file: camera make and model, lens, exposure settings, date and time, and often GPS coordinates. Editing apps can add their own details too.
Can a photo reveal my location?
Yes. Phones and many cameras save GPS coordinates when location is on for the camera app. This tool shows them as latitude and longitude so you can check before you share.
Does removing EXIF reduce image quality?
No. The image is not re-encoded. The picture data is copied exactly and only the metadata is left out, so the pixels stay identical.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Files are read and cleaned inside this browser tab. Nothing is sent to a server.
Why keep the orientation?
Many cameras store a rotation flag in the metadata instead of turning the pixels. Without it, a portrait photo can show up sideways. It costs a few bytes and reveals nothing about you. Untick it if you want everything gone.
Does it work with iPhone photos?
Photos in HEIC format are not supported. Convert them to JPG with the HEIC to JPG tool first, then check them here.
Do social networks remove EXIF data?
Many hide location on public posts, but the rules change and not every site does. Email attachments and files sent as originals usually keep everything, so removing it yourself is the safe way.
