Internet speed test●
Measure your download and upload speed, ping and jitter, then see what that speed means for video, calls and games.
Press Start and watch the dial. The test takes about 20 to 40 seconds.
Press Start to measure your connection.
Your results stay on your device. We never see or store them.
The test downloads and uploads data from Cloudflare's servers. Use the Quick size on mobile data, and pause other downloads, streaming and updates for the most accurate result.

How to read your speed test results
Download speed is how fast data reaches your device, and it decides how quickly pages, videos and files load. Upload speed is how fast you can send data out, which matters for video calls, sharing large files and live streaming. Both are measured in megabits per second (Mbps). Divide by 8 to get megabytes per second (MB/s), the unit file downloads usually show, so 100 Mbps is about 12.5 MB/s. Ping, also called latency, is the time in milliseconds for a small message to travel to a server and back. Low ping makes games and calls feel instant. Jitter is how much the ping bounces around, and high jitter causes choppy calls. As a rough guide, one HD stream needs about 5 Mbps and one 4K stream about 15 Mbps, a video call 3 Mbps both ways, and online games need a ping under 50 ms. The test also measures ping while your connection is busy. A big jump there means your router struggles when someone downloads, which is called bufferbloat.
Unit converters →Common questions
What is a good internet speed?
For one or two people, 25 to 100 Mbps handles streaming, calls and browsing. Households with many devices, 4K streaming or large downloads do better with 100 to 500 Mbps. Upload matters too: 10 Mbps or more is comfortable for video calls and cloud backups.
What is the difference between Mbps and MB/s?
Mbps means megabits per second and MB/s means megabytes per second. One byte is 8 bits, so divide Mbps by 8 to get MB/s. Internet plans are sold in Mbps while file downloads usually show MB/s.
What is ping and what is a good ping?
Ping is the time a small message takes to reach a server and return, in milliseconds. Under 30 ms is excellent, under 60 ms is fine for most games, and over 100 ms feels laggy.
What is jitter?
Jitter is how much your ping changes from one moment to the next. A steady connection has low jitter, usually under 20 ms. High jitter causes stuttering voice and video even when the speed is high.
Why is my speed lower than my plan?
Wi-Fi, distance from the router, other devices, the time of day and the test server all lower the result. Plans also quote a maximum. Test with a cable, close other apps and run the test a few times.
How much data does the test use?
The Quick size uses up to about 120 MB. Thorough uses up to about 1.3 GB on very fast connections and stops earlier on slower ones. Choose Quick on mobile data.
Who sees my data?
The test runs in your browser and talks to Cloudflare's speed test servers, which see your IP address like any website you visit. We do not receive or store your results, and the option that reports results back to Cloudflare is switched off.
