Amounts are calculated in this browser tab and are never sent anywhere.
The two VAT sums everyone needs.
To add VAT, multiply the net price by the rate and add the result: net x (1 + rate / 100). To remove VAT, divide the gross price by 1 plus the rate: gross / (1 + rate / 100). Do not subtract the rate percentage from the gross price, because VAT is a share of the net amount, not of the total. Results are rounded to the nearest cent.

How do I calculate the price without VAT?
Divide the price with VAT by 1 plus the rate. At 20%, divide by 1.2. A gross price of 120 has a net price of 100 and VAT of 20.
Why is taking 20% off a gross price wrong?
Because VAT is charged on the net price. 20% of 120 is 24, but the real VAT in 120 is only 20. Divide by 1.2 instead.
Which VAT rate should I use?
The rate that applies to your goods or service in your country. Standard rates differ across countries, for example 20% in the United Kingdom and 19% in Germany. Check your tax authority for the current rate.
Is this tax advice?
No. It is an arithmetic tool. Rounding rules on invoices can differ, so follow your accountant or tax authority when you issue VAT invoices.
